Wimbledon Championships

As it does every year, the All England Lawn Tennis Club organizes the Wimbledon Championships, the oldest tournament on the tennis calendar. Since it’s start, none of the major players have lost this prestigious tournament, the third largest annual tennis tournament after Roland Garros and the only one of the Big Four held in grass Surface.

Since the first Championships in 1877, Wimbledon has grown from its roots as a garden-party tournament to a Grand Slam tournament with a following of millions around the world.

The Championships

The tournament will take place in London, between 2nd July and 15th July. The gentlemen’s championship will be lead by the actual champion of Wimbledon, Roger Federer and he will try to revalidate his title, but will not have it easy, players like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal will also try to rise the desired cup. The Gentlemen’s Final will be played on July 15th.

On the other hand in the Ladies Championship, Garbiñe Muguruza will try to defend the champion title, she won in 2017 against Venus Williams, it’s her first trophy at Wimbledon’s. Players like Serena Williams, Petra Kvitová and Angelique Kerber will also try to rise in the tournament. The Ladies Final will be played on July 14th.

The only Slam contested on grass continues to honor many long-standing traditions, including a strict dress code for competitors, the eating of strawberries and cream, and royal patronage.
