5 Amazing Events for Corporate Travel in 2019

Staff writer – April 30, 2019

When planning a corporate trip, there are a lot of factors to consider. You have to pick a destination that your group will enjoy and that is also conducive to business meetings, conferences, team building, or expos. Having a live event for colleagues to attend together can make the trip more exciting, and a large city presents a number of attractions for the group to enjoy in their free time, while also providing plenty of venues for the business side. Read on for five exciting events your colleagues will love in 2019.

1. A Night at the Opera

The Sydney Opera House, designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, is one of the most breathtaking buildings in the world. What better place to enjoy an opera? We recommend La Bohème, which runs through March 28, or Madama Butterfly, which runs from June 28 to August 10. If you’d like something different, try Bangarra: 30 years of 65,000 years, a mix of contemporary dance and Indigenous storytelling. It runs from June 11 to July 13.

And Sydney has plenty of places for your business events, including MGSM’s Sydney CBD Executive Centre, the International Convention Centre Sydney, and Sydney Olympic Park.

2. Rugby in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Sevens is the most important tournament in the World Rugby Sevens Series competition, and it takes place from April 5–7, 2019, in the Honk Kong Stadium. Some of the best rugby players in the world compete there in their national teams. In 2018, the match was won by Fiji. Come to the stadium early to see children from local clubs play! Enjoy the party atmosphere in the South Stand, where spectators dress up and dance.

As one of the most significant business hubs in the world, Hong Kong is full of business facilities. For extra convenience, book a hotel with business rooms, such as Harbour Plaza, the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui, and the JW Marriott.

3. The Roots of Classical

If you are a lover of classical music, you must take a trip to where it all began: Vienna. Even non-connoisseurs cannot resist the atmosphere of this historic city. Treat your group to a night with the Vienna Philharmonic for the full experience. The Weiner Musikverein, the concert hall, dates back to 1870. Whatever time of the year you visit, you can hear the orchestra playing works by your favorite composers.

For your business events, try the NH Vienna Airport Conference Center, the Messe Wien Exhibition Congress Center, or the Hofburg Congress Center.

4. Concert in Wine Country

BottleRock Napa Valley is an annual music festival featuring rock, country, hip-hop, and Latin music. The event also showcases local wineries (there were 40 in 2013). Last year’s event featured a stage with cooking demonstrations. In 2019, the festival will be held from May 24–26 at the Napa Valley Expo, and you will see artists such as Santana, Imagine Dragons, and Pharrell Williams.

Book your meetings and team building activities at Silverado Resort and Spa, Meadowood Napa Valley, or Clos Pegase Winery.

5. A Brazilian Festival You Will Never Forget

Everyone must attend Carnival once in their lifetime. There’s the one in Rio, of course, which is probably the most famous in the world, a week-long party in Paradise! For a more African flavor, head to the Salvador Carnival in Bahia, where you will see a number of other local dances aside from the samba. You can choose which parade route to follow (there are six), and even join in!

If you choose Rio, you can host your business events at the Rio Convention & Exhibition Center or the Villa Riso Convention Center, among many other options. Salvador is not a huge business hub like Rio, but there are hotels with meeting rooms, including WISH Salvador and Fiesta Bahia Hotel.

Whichever event you choose, it will help break the ice between members of your group, allowing for better team building activities. The new experiences will foster more creative thinking than a stuffy business meeting would.
